Production cycle

The lifespan of an aquaculture animal or algae, from the very first stage of life (fertilized eggs in the case of aquaculture animals) to harvest.

Production unit

All resources of a holding, including primary production premises, agricultural plots, pastures, open-air areas, livestock buildings or parts thereof, beehives, fish ponds, containment systems and installations for algae or aquaculture animals, farming units, coastal or seabed concessions, and premises used for the storage of plants, plant products, algae products, animal products, raw materials, and any other relevant inputs managed as described in points 10), 11), or 12) [of Regulation (EU) 2018/848, Editor's note].

Production, preparation and distribution phase

Any stage, from primary production of an organic product through storage, processing, transportation, and sale or supply to the final consumer, including, where applicable, labeling, advertising, import, export, and procurement activities.

Products of animal origin

Foods of animal origin, honey, blood, molluscs, echinoderms, tunicates, live marine gastropods, and other live animals intended for human consumption.

Persons who use pesticides in the course of a professional activity, including operators, technicians, entrepreneurs, and self-employed workers, whether in the agricultural sector or in other sectors.

The protein content is calculated using the following formula: protein = total nitrogen (Kjeldahl) × 6.25.
